Biography

Sara Vanderwood comes to Maine Street Solutions from the Maine Senate Republican Office where she served as Chief of Staff. In addition to serving as a trusted political and strategic advisor to Maine leaders, Sara also has served as a key aid on numerous public policy issues ranging from health care to the environment. She is a well-known and well-respected part of the team that engineered the recent republican victories in the Maine Legislature and uses her experience to guide MSS’ lobbying and political efforts at the state and federal level.

An Oregon native, Sara moved to Maine at an early age. She graduated from Oxford Hills High School and then attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she was a scholarship cross country skier and runner. While in college she interned for United States Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) and developed her passion for politics. After college, Sara served the Senate Republican Office as an Administrative Assistant, Legislative Aide and, most recently, as Chief of Staff.

When she is not winning elections, Sara spends much of her time mushing her dogsled team, running cross-country, and bike riding in the back Maine woods with her husband and son.
