Verrill Dana is proud to have represented Diversified Communications in the acquisition of a newly built $2.5 million solar array, in Brunswick, Maine. The array, which was developed by ReVision Energy and went online in January 2018, will provide power to over 100 businesses at Brunswick Landing.

A team of Verrill Dana attorneys helped Diversified Communications structure the transaction across a range of issues, including federal debt financing, renewable energy credits, electric power sales, EPC contracting, and regulatory, real estate and corporate matters.

In an article on the company’s website, Ted Wirth, president & CEO of Diversified Communications explained, “We were just starting to look for new and meaningful investment opportunities when we learned of this community-based and environmentally impactful project right here in Maine. Diversified’s primary business is in producing exhibitions and publishing, however as we continue to grow we are diversifying in ways that reflect our values instilled by our Board of Directors.”

Verrill Dana’s attorneys serve as counsel in complex energy transactions. These transactions include: sales and acquisitions of generation facilities, including solar, hydro and wind facilities; mergers and acquisitions involving energy companies and regulated utilities; acquisition of utility rights-of-way or energy corridors; advice regarding energy and new markets tax credits; and the permitting of many major new high-voltage electric transmission lines, high-pressure natural gas pipelines and wind energy facilities. We regularly represent both generators and transmission providers before FERC and the Maine PUC in proceedings such as rate cases, certificate proceedings and consumer complaint cases, and before the Maine DEP, LUPC and municipalities in seeking siting approval.
