Biography

Robert helps his clients to identify, protect, and leverage their intellectual property by working closely with each client, applying his engineering experience to gain a deep understanding of the client’s technology and business objectives and educating the client with respect to intellectual property law.

Through his intellectual property and information technology practice, Robert counsels clients in all aspects of intellectual property, with a particular focus on patent prosecution, intellectual property strategy, portfolio management, and intellectual property licensing. With an educational background in aeronautical engineering and experience as a structural analysis engineer supporting both Pratt and Whitney and General Electric, Robert specializes in aviation, aeronautical, aerospace, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, and military/defense technologies. His complex prosecution docket also includes medical devices, software, artificial intelligence, blockchain, augmented reality, radar systems, signal processing, image recognition, laser systems, nanomaterials and nanostructures, fluid filtration, automotive, design patents, power generation, green energy, wind turbines, communications, microfluidics, flow cytometry, optics and imaging, fiber optics, and semiconductors.

Immediately prior to joining Verrill Dana, Robert served as an intellectual property attorney at the Boston office of a global law firm.

Robert lives with his wife Britney, the Shelter Manager and Medical Coordinator at the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society in Salisbury, MA, his two children, and a menagerie of cats, dogs, and furry foster friends. He devotes time to assisting animals in need and can often be found transporting shelter cats to Boston area veterinarians “on his morning commute.” In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, birding, and spending time with his family.
