PORTLAND - Legal Assistant - Private Clients

Verrill Dana, LLP is actively reviewing resumes for a Legal Assistant in our Private Clients Practice Group in our Portland, Maine office. This position is designed to be a full-time position supporting two to four attorneys within our Private Clients Group. With a strong desire and capacity to learn on the job, we would consider an entry-level candidate. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, revising legal documents and memoranda, proofreading, timekeeping, maintaining files (paper and electronic), conducting online and general research, tracking complex bills, transcription, answering the telephone, assisting clients, and responding promptly with the ability to successfully multi-task in a fast paced environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate mastery of both written and verbal communication, have exceptional attention to detail, strong organization skills and proficiency in the use of modern technology (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Candidates must have a strong propensity for developing client relationships in an environment where complex multi-generational interactions are commonplace. Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously, and prioritize them appropriately is a must. Flexible, positive and hardworking attitude required. Applicants must have a desire to operate as part of a team working in concert with their teammates to achieve common goals and provide the highest level of client service. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the role of a Legal Assistant within a full-service law firm environment.
