Biography

Michele has headed the human resources area for Verrill Dana since the fall of 2001 and is one of many who helps to implement our Statement of Principles. Michele has responsibility for recruitment, satisfaction, benefits plan, performance review, retention and compensation as well as the external compliance and internal implementation of benefits, policies, procedures and programs. Her goal is to provide the best and the brightest talent to the firm, and retain them by giving these individuals the resources and the opportunity to advance their skills (in this technologically fast changing environment) so that they may continue to be valuable members of the team providing excellent quality legal work efficiently for our clients. She works closely with the Executive Director and the Hiring Committee, Associate Development Committee, the Associate Review Committee and the new Associate Development Task Force.

“It is a privilege to interact with all these intelligent, creative, driven and unique people striving for one goal and to ensure that the firm’s benefits plan is competitive, comprehensive and seamless throughout the stages of an individual’s career. It is a special gift to watch someone who you interviewed become a success with a satisfying and challenging career or to watch a summer associate develop into a highly skilled attorney who becomes a partner in the firm."

During the inaugural year in 2006, Verrill Dana was named The Number One Best Place to Work (in the mid-size category). Annually, a group of businesses are named a Best Place to Work, but there is only one Number ONE designated each year in each category which truly affirmed the success of our culture and benefit plans.

Michele is a member of the National Association of Legal Administrators as well as the DownEast chapter and a member of the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM). On a personal note, she is the step-mother to Lisa, Dylan and Joshua for over 35 years, and the mother to Lauren—all of whom are adults living in different places throughout the country. Michele has volunteered for most of her adult life at various universities and the University of Southern Maine has a special place in her heart. Michele feels blessed to live at the beach, intends to do more surfing and vows to avoid ever referring to herself in the third person again.
