Marylana focuses her practice on transactional and regulatory matters affecting a wide range of clients in the health care industry, including health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers, and pharmaceutical and medical device companies. In particular, Marylana has experience advising clients on regulatory considerations related to clinical research and health data privacy, including, but not limited to, assisting clients in navigating the requirements under the Common Rule, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, state data protection and privacy laws, and the Food and Drug Administration requirements.

Marylana received her law degree from Boston University School of Law. While in law school, Marylana interned at the Office of the General Counsel at Partners HealthCare Systems, Inc., the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office as part of the Health Care Fraud Unit, and served as a judicial intern for Honorable Magistrate Judge Judith G. Dein of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Marylana graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, where she was a member of the Student Representative Council and a member of the women’s Varsity swim team.

Prior to entering law school, she was a research assistant at Boston University School of Medicine’s Obesity and Diabetes Research Center, where she conducted NIH-funded research to determine how fuels generate signals to modulate insulin secretion from pancreatic cells. Her work is published and referenced in several scientific journals.

Outside of the office, Marylana and her husband, Rabie, enjoy their time exercising along the Charles River Esplanade, playing with their vivacious Jack Russell Terrier, and challenging each other’s culinary skills in the kitchen.

Marylana is fluent in Arabic and conversational in French.
