Maine Power Express: Merchant Transmission Line

Maine Power Express has site control over the former Maine Yankee Nuclear Plant. It proposes to establish a submerged, merchant transmission line to Boston from the Wiscasset property. In addition, the plan calls for a large, underground pump station to store energy generated by Maine’s emerging wind industry. The pump storage would be able to release energy within seconds of demand on the grid and provide that necessary energy to Maine and the rest of New England. Working with a lobby team at Maine Street Solutions (Verrill Dana’s government relations subsidiary), we provided legal counsel and negotiated an important exclusion from a pending legislative matter to allow this major development to proceed.
