Kate Gallin Heffernan copresented with Laura Odwazny at the American Health Lawyers Association annual conference on legal issues affecting academic medical centers and other teaching institutions. The presentation, entitled "Changes to the Regulatory Environment for Research," covered:
- The changes to the Federal regulations governing research with human subjects, known as the Common Rule
- How stakeholder input and public comment on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking influenced the content of the final rule
- How the regulatory environment for research may change as a result of the requirements set forth in the 21st Century Cures Act and how the revised Common Rule may intersect with the Act’s regulatory mandates
