Portland, Maine was named America's Foodiest Small Town by Bon Appetit for its fresh seafood, local beers, artisanal bakeries, and the best breakfasts in the country.

You probably already know that New England is a remarkable place to live. The ocean, mountains, and great food might be enough to lure people here, but these are not the only reasons Portland, Maine tops the list of America's Most Livable Cities. Whether you are just starting out in the legal industry or you are looking to make a lateral move, Verrill Dana, LLP and Portland offer many advantages over bigger cities.

  • The size of Portland supports and encourages community involvement. Our attorneys and staff serve on a variety of different boards and community groups – something that would not be possible in a larger city.
  • Social groups are smaller here. This makes it easier to meet people, network, and start being a part of real planning and decision-making in Portland and beyond. It is much easier to start developing a reputation much sooner than you can in larger cities, or even in midsize cities.
  • Portland is a vibrant urban center. Making it a place that is open to diverse talents and identities; a place where dynamic businesses can develop quickly and affordably; and a place where the quality of life is exceptional.
  • Portland is a very convenient city to travel to and from. As legal professionals we need ready access to clients and events in other cities. The Portland International Jetport is ten minutes from downtown and provides daily non-stop flights to many major cities and airline hubs. The Amtrak Downeaster operates five daily round trips and Concord Coach Line buses depart hourly for Boston and beyond from the Portland Transportation Center, which is only five minutes from our downtown office.
