Verrill Dana’s Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Group counsels a significant and growing number of employers located or headquartered outside of Maine, particularly in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S., as well as several of Maine’s largest employers.

Our services encompass all aspects of compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code and other laws that govern the form and administration of retirement plans, health and other welfare benefit plans, executive compensation arrangements, equity-based compensation programs, fringe benefit plans, and the benefit plans of churches and church-affiliated employers. We advise clients on the design of benefit and compensation plans; prepare plan documents, filings and employee communications; and represent plans and employers in audits, investigations and proceedings conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

Members of the group have successfully represented employers in numerous retirement plan examinations before the Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Department of Labor. Our group has unique and significant experience correcting qualified retirement plan errors, including “group submission” filings with the Internal Revenue Service. Because many of our clients are part of global organizations, the group's lawyers are also experienced in the coordination of benefit programs for employees moving between U.S. and foreign affiliates.

Several of us were affiliated with major law, consulting or accounting firms in Boston, Washington, D.C. and New York before joining Verrill Dana, while others have been with Verrill Dana since early in their careers.
