Biography

Anya focuses her practice on all aspects of estate and gift planning and trust administration and probate, including counseling clients on tax planning, charitable giving, and wealth management and transfer strategies.

Prior to joining Verrill Dana, Anya worked as a trusts and estates associate for two years at a general practice firm in upstate New York where she engaged in estate planning for individuals and families and handled probate and trust administration matters. Previous to that, she clerked for two years for the New York State Court of Appeals, the high court of the state, where she was a member of the Court’s Central Legal Research Staff and gained extensive experience conducting research and writing reports for the Judges of the Court. Anya also draws on her experience as a tax associate in the New York City office of a large international law firm where she focused on corporate tax planning and assisting nonprofit organizations to apply for and maintain exempt status.

Anya is a native of western Massachusetts, and recently relocated from upstate New York to Portland with her husband and son, having grown to love the area from spending time at her parents’ vacation home on Peaks Island. When she is not working, Anya enjoys cooking and baking, running, knitting, oil painting, and spending time with her family.
