Portland, ME (April 7, 2010) - Kate Healy, Chair of Verrill Dana's Health Technology Group, gave two presentations to over 120 health information technology professionals from around the state at the Maine Health Information Management Association's (MeHIMA) Spring Conference in Augusta on March 26. MeHIMA had record attendance at the conference. Her first presentation, "The HITECH Act: Ready or Not...Here It Is," focused on recent changes to federal health information privacy and security law. Her second presentation "HealthInfoNet - An Update on Maine's Health Information Exchange," provided an update on HealthInfoNet's current operations and its planned expansion statewide this summer. HealthInfoNet went live last July and began sharing electronic clinical health information among six health care provider sites and the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Kate serves as outside legal counsel to HealthInfoNet.
